The views of Amalfi are picturesque and every bit of what Hollywood portrays. Every scene is dramatic with homes and buildings built on impossibly steep cliffs covered with greenery mirrored by a beautiful blue ocean.

A view of Amafi from the water.

View of the Amafi Marina.
The hotel we stayed at, Hotel la Bussola, is the large crème colored building in the bottom right of the photo below. They were wonderful accommodations and at the perfect location.
At the center of the main square of town is of the Duomo (cathedral) of Saint Andrew the fisherman. St. Andrew is Amalfi’s patron saint and is represented in paintings, fountains and sculptures all throughout the city.
Inside the Duomo is a beautiful cloister enclosing a small garden.
Along the perimeter of the cloister are beautiful frescos...
... and beautiful mosaics.
And at the bottom center of the Duomo lays the crypt of St. Andrew himself!
The main square of town opens up to this tiny yet major throughway. Because the street is so narrow, traffic can only move in one direction at a time. We spent several evenings sitting at an outdoor restaurant table watching the people and the traffic go by. It was great entertainment!
Also in the main square were some interesting sights, including this rather provocative fountain! I can’t even count how many times I saw guys having someone taking their picture drinking from the fountain.
Posting all of these pictures makes me want to go back! We had such a wonderful time there.
